James C. Askew entered the appraisal profession in 1980 and began a concentration in hotel valuation in 1990. For the five years spanning 1996 - 2000, Jim contributed the hospitality sections of Viewpoint: Real Estate Value Trends, an annual publication of national real estate trends published by Valuation International, Ltd. Jim also was interviewed and quoted by Barron's magazine in a lodging article appearing in 1996. Jim founded Hotel Valuation Advisors, Inc., in 2000, a real estate consulting and valuation firm specializing in hotel valuation services. Jim monitors the trends and issues of the lodging industry on a daily basis, and he has completed more than 150 hotel valuation assignments in 40 states.
